Handsome Hovis!

Hovis, the most affectionate golden retriever, who stole the show at his parents wedding

At just 22 months old, he was brimming with energy and excitement!

In this blog, we'll share the heartwarming story of how we supported Hovis throughout his parents' special day.

Hovis started the day being cared for by his Grandmother, who kindly took him on a stroll around the grounds for him to explore! after having a groom the day before he was looking and smelling so handsome .... that was until he decided to roll in mud!!

His poor Granny had to shower him down and get him smelling sweet again!

When I arrived to take over his care in the morning we spent time getting to know each other in a relaxed manner, we wondered around the venue (On lead to avoid any more rolling!!) playing with his favourite toys in the accommodation and generally getting to know each other as we had only met that morning

Hovis and I explored the ceremony room first as he would need to be very brave later on and deliver the rings to Mum & dad!

this time is great to let the sniffing commence which helps gain confidence in the new surroundings.....avoid peeing up the gorgeous decor and generally be comfortable with the beautiful decorations in the room! we spent time here sitting on the floor, in the chairs and sniffing every inch of the room (Hovis not me!)

As the Trevenna staff and other wedding suppliers bustled about preparing the room, it was an opportune moment to introduce Hovis at his own pace, allowing him to say hello in his own time

Ensuring Hovis had plenty of toilet breaks, we then headed outside, where the photos were to be taken. Again, we allowed him to explore at his own pace, strengthening our bond and getting to know each other better

we went back to the accommodation once dad had left with the groomsmen all ready for pre ceremony drinks and photos!

It was time to get Hovis ready for his big moment! he had previously tried on his gorgeous tux harness at home but we took this step very slowly .....he knew he was going to look super handsome in it though as this did not faze him at all in fact I think he quite liked looking so dapper!

Hovis had the honour of greeting the wedding guests at the venue, and he took this responsibility very seriously, wanting to say hello to EVERYONE! It was a great way to gradually introduce him to the guests, ensuring that the number of people around him built up gradually, rather than him suddenly walking into a packed room. We even had the option to provide him with some space if he felt overwhelmed

We soon headed out for some pre-ceremony photos with the groomsmen before positioning ourselves in the foyer to watch Mum make her grand entrance. Hovis's reaction was priceless, and of course, he called out to Mum to express how beautiful she looked. It was a touching moment between the two of them

With my support, Hovis did exceptionally well waiting in the foyer away from the main ceremony room and the busy staff. The big moment arrived when Hovis had to deliver the rings, and he performed this task spectacularly.

Once the rings were safely delivered and he was back on the lead, we left the ceremony to proceed, as Hovis could easily get bored and we didn't want him to disrupt the proceedings

I made a huge fuss of him and he danced around very pleased with him self! we had toilet breaks before the wedding party joined us out side for the remaining photos!

Zoe the photographer did an amazing job capturing all the special moments of the day and as we had discussed previously we involved Hovis early on so he could head off for some R&R from his busy day!

Hovis remaining care was in one of the gorgeous accommodation at Trevenna Barns, we had the TV on, snacks toys and had lots of cuddles! we went out on short walks and toilet breaks and Hovis was exhausted from his very eventful day!

Here's what Hovis Mum & Dad said about his care on their wedding day -

'Sarah, is absolutely fantastic. She really puts you and your dog at ease, my 22 month old golden retriever can easily get stressed during busy environments but Sarah ensured he was able to be part of our day but have enough walks, stimulation and down time to make sure he was happy.

It also takes massive weight off your mind as bride and groom as you know your dog is well cared for by a trained professional who practices positive reinforcement training and who genuinely loves her job and your dog!' ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
